Casa Grande, AZ : DPS investigating Casa Grande crash on Monday, 6th January, 2020

A three-vehicle crash in Casa Grande left one person with serious injuries Monday afternoon, officials said.

Around 4:37 pm Monday an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper was stopped in traffic at the intersection of McCartney and Peart roads when he saw an erratic driver pass by, according to DPS spokesman Bart Graves.

The driver was traveling the wrong way, westbound in the eastbound lanes, and failed to stop at a designated stop sign at the intersection, according to DPS.

The driver continued through the intersection, traveling west on McCartney Road in the direction of Trekell Road. As the trooper attempted to catch up to the driver, the driver collided with two vehicles at the intersection of McCartney and Trekell roads.

The driver was taken to a hospital in Phoenix, DPS said. DPS did not name the driver.

The occupants in the other vehicles suffered minor injuries.
