Denton, NC : Three people injured in a head-on collision on N.C. 47 in Davidson County on Monday night, April 18, 2016

New details are emerging in the head-on collision on N.C. 47 in Davidson County Monday night.

According to Highway Patrol, a 1992 Ford pickup truck was traveling west on N.C. 47 and a 1996 Honda passenger vehicle was traveling east on N.C. 47.

The driver of the Ford truck, identified as 44-year-old Michael Morris, of Asheboro, attempted to turn left into a driveway and hit the Honda head-on.

The Honda was driven by 31-year-old Nicholas Mullins, of Denton. There was also a 5-year-old boy in the car.

Mullins was airlifted and the child was transported by ambulance to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Both are in serious but stable condition, Highway Patrol said on Tuesday afternoon.

Charges against Morris are pending but will likely include failure to yield and not wearing a seatbelt, Highway Patrol said.

Mullins is charged with not properly restraining a child, driving while impaired and driving while license suspended.

Firefighters on the scene of the accident Monday night initially told FOX8 two children were transported to the hospital.
