Chetek,WI: Driver dies after truck crashes into trees near Chetek on October, Tuesday 3rd 2017

A 58-year old Chetek man died after his pickup truck veered off the road and struck a tree west of Chetek at about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Dennis Hiemstra was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Barron, where he was later pronounced dead, stated a news release issued by the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.


An initial investigation found that Hiemstra was driving a F150 pickup truck south on 22 3/4 Street north of Hwy. D when it veered from the road, entered a ditch and struck two trees.

The Barron County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating a possible medical issue. Hiemstra was not wearing a seat belt.

Sheriff’s deputies, along with the Chetek and Rice Lake ambulances, Chetek First Responders and Fire Department and Life Link Helicopter responded to the scene.
