DANVILLE, IL : A fatal crash in Vermilion County on Monday, September 11, 2017

Illinois State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Vermilion County.

According to a police report, a 57-year-old Illinois man was driving a three-axle truck tractor south on Bowman Avenue about three-quarters of a mile south of Bismarck Road at 8:43 a.m. Monday when his vehicle left the highway for an unknown reason.

The truck entered the west ditch embankment, passed through the ditch and entered the parking lot of a grain elevator.

Then the vehicle struck two grain augers and drove over two large rock piles before rolling over on its left side.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the truck tractor and died.

The crash remains under investigation.
