MOULTRIE, GA : Moultrie man dies of injuries from Thomas Co. wreck on Friday, 8th November, 2019
A Moultrie man died Friday of complications from a Thomas County auto accident from the week prior, according to Colquitt County Coroner Verlyn Brock.
Anthony Willingham, 33, died Nov. 8 from multiple blunt force trauma at John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.
On Nov. 3 Willingham was travelling southbound on Georgia Highway 35 (U.S. Highway 319) near Mile Marker 21, according to the Georgia State Patrol report. His vehicle traveled across northbound lanes into an eastern roadside ditch, the report said.
The initial strike caused the vehicle to go airborne and overturn. Upon landing, the vehicle hit its passenger side farther in the east ditch and overturned twice, according to the report’s diagram. It finally came to rest upright, partially blocking the highway’s rightmost northbound lane.
The estimated crash time was 4:18 p.m. and the vehicle was disabled, the report reads.
Willingham was “totally ejected” from the vehicle. He was transported to Archbold Memorial by Thomas County EMS.
No alcohol or drug test was administered, but responding patrolman G. Shiver marked the operator contributing factors as under the influence, driver lost control and other.
Willingham was cited for driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane at the time of the crash.
