Walton , OH : NKY woman critical after head-on I-71 crash on Sunday , July 12 , 2015
A Verona woman is in critical condition Sunday afternoon following a head-on collision in Walton that required her to be flown to the hospital.
The collision happened at approximately 2 p.m. Sunday on I-71, about two miles south of the I-71/I-75 split near Walton.
Police said that Linda Kaiser, 60, was driving southbound in a Toyota Corolla when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the median and struck a northbound Toyota Prius head-on, according to a release from the Boone County Sheriff's Office.
Kaiser was flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with critical injuries, officials said.
The driver of the Prius, Steven Malriat, 53, of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, was transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence with minor injuries, police said.
The northbound side of I-71 was closed for about an hour while officials treated victims and investigated the scene.
The crash is under investigation with the Boone County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Unit.
