Lantana, FL : One person dead, 6 injured in a Rollover crash on I-95 south of West Palm Beach on Wednesday afternoon, May 6, 2015

A rollover accident on northbound I-95 left one person dead and sent six others to the hospital, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

The accident happened just after 3 p.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes of I-95 between Hypoluxo and Lantana roads.

Calvin Keith Jordan, 18, of Greenacres, was driving a 1998 Mercedes-Benz ML320 when the SUV veered to the right and into the outside emergency lane, said Sgt. Mark Wysocky, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman. Jordan then veered left and lost control of the SUV, causing it to overturn across the northbound lanes.

Jordan, along with passengers Peter Olivier, 20, of Boca Raton, Kevin K. Jordan, 18, of Greenacres, Woodly Fedna, 20, of Boca Raton, Lequentin Butler, 17, of Boynton Beach, Brandon Tre'von Grant, 20, of Boynton Beach, and Tarrelle T. Moore, 19, were ejected from the SUV, Wysocky said. None was wearing a seatbelt.

A 2009 Honda CR-V driven by Michele D. Cleary, 53, of Manalapan, N.J., hit the overturned SUV, which then became engulfed in flames, Wysocky said. One of the ejected passengers was struck by a 2014 Cadillac CTS driven by Leslie Ira Pokrass, 68, of West Palm Beach.

Calvin Jordan was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center with critical injuries, Wysocky said. Kevin Jordan, Moore and Fedna were also taken to St. Mary's Medical Center with serious injuries.

Butler and Grant were taken to Delray Medical Center with minor injuries, Wysocky said. Olivier was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crews shut down all of northbound I-95 between Hypoluxo and Lantana roads. Officials were able to clear the accident at about 6:30 p.m. and traffic flow returned to normal.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Wysocky said.
