Columbus, OH : Man killed in crash near Eastland Mall early Sunday, November 6, 2016
Columbus police have identified a Columbus man as the driver killed early Sunday in a crash near Eastland Mall.
James R. Jamison, 36, of Chatterton Road in the Southeast Side, lost control of his vehicle at about 4 a.m. and struck a concrete pillar in the median, according to a news release. He was traveling south on Hamilton Road, north of Refugee Road, in a 2004 Chevy Impala.
The vehicle veered off the roadway to the right and then re-entered the roadway, crossing both soutbound lanes before the crash, police said.
Jamison was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sardae L. Qualls, 28, a passenger, was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
It's not yet known what caused Jamison to lose control of the vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
