Maysville, KY : Azro Browning Jr., 68, died in a car-truck accident on a local highway Monday, May 2, 2016

One man was killed in a car-truck accident on a local highway Monday.

The accident took place on Kentucky 9 AA Highway and Kentucky 1449 Orangeburg Road at about 11:30 a.m., Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs said.

John Guinn, 44, of Maysville, was northbound on Kentucky 9 in a 1999 Freightliner and attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Kentucky 1449 when his tractor-trailer rig was hit in the rear by a car driven by Azro Browning Jr., 68, also of Maysville, Boggs said.

Browning was driving a 2010 Kia passenger vehicle, Boggs said.

According to some witnesses, after striking the tractor-trailer, the Kia was dragged behind the tractor-trailer for a short distance onto Orangeburg Road.

Browning was pronounced dead at the scene by the Mason County Coroner's Office, Boggs said. Guinn was not injured.

THE MCSO was assisted at the scene by the Orangeburg Volunteer Fire Department and Maysville-Mason County EMS.

The accident remains under investigation by Deputy Terry Fryman.
