Albuquerque , NM : Bus driver minorly injured and taken to hospital after silver pickup collided with the bus on Friday , January 2nd 2015
An Albuquerque bus driver only had minor injuries after a crash sent him flying through the windshield, and incredible surveillance video shows just how lucky both drivers were.
You can tell by his whistling that the bus driver's day was going just fine. But his route was about to take a turn for the worse.
Last Friday (Jan. 2), a silver pickup collided with the bus. Police say the truck ran a red light.
When the bus is hit, you can see it hop a curb and hit a Route 66 sign. The collision knocks the bus driver out of his seat and into the front windshield.
City officials say he was not wearing his seat belt.
Traffic was held up for hours as crews cleaned up the aftermath. Neither driver was injured, and there weren't any passengers on the bus.
City officials say the bus driver has a good record but also added that they don't agree with his decision to not buckle up. They say the video will now be a training tool for all of their drivers.
