St. Johns County ,FL : 64-year-old FHP trooper extracted from patrol car after getting hit during crash investigation On Tuesday ,August 4th 2015

A 64-year-old trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol was trapped inside his vehicle Tuesday morning when it was hit from behind on Interstate 95 in St. Johns County while he was working on a separate crash investigation.
Ronald Roberts Sr. of Jacksonville and the two occupants of the other vehicle were transported to hospitals in serious condition, according to the Highway Patrol.

Reven Nicole Howerton, 32, of Danville, Va., was southbound on I-95 in a Hyundai Elantra about 9:50 a.m. when she left the road for unknown reasons and struck the rear of the patrol car, according to the FHP.

The patrol car was pushed from the emergency lane into the grass shoulder and Roberts had to be extracted from the vehicle.

Debroah Wooden, whose age was not listed in the report, was the only passenger in the Hyundai.

The southbound lanes of I-95 were blocked for about two hours during the investigation.
