Hyannis Port, MA : Squad cars called to minor car accident inside Kennedy Compound on Saturday, September 20, 2014
Hyannis Port, Massachusetts
Police were called to a minor car accident on Marchant Avenue inside the Kennedy Compound today. Minor car accidents are not usually a big deal. But when they happen inside the grounds of the compound, Kennedy staff and law enforcement take no chances. Especially when there’s a question about whether someone belongs there.
At about 1:16pm, Barnstable Police were called after a car had backed into a fence causing minor damage.
A second patrol car was also dispatched after it was reported the man involved in the accident was becoming difficult with employees inside the private Kennedy Compound.
When Hyannis News arrived, the driver that backed into the fence was seated inside his car, which was now parked just outside the entrance to the compound. A police officer was speaking with him and getting his side of the story. Everyone appeared calm at this time.
Sources at the scene explained to HN that it was really a very minor accident with very little damage.
But whenever someone enters the private property at the Kennedy Compound it causes alarm from both compound employees and police…
Sources told HN the driver was actually an off duty pool maintenance man who had recently been employed inside the compound. He was out driving around and wanted to show his girlfriend that he actually had access to the compound grounds.
The pool maintenance man was in the process of turning around and leaving when he accidentally backed into a fence. Employees inside the compound were not familiar with the man and called police.
Things returned to normal after police officers arrived and sorted things out.
