Salem, N.H : Motorcyclist injured after collision with SUV on North Main Street and Glen Road on Sunday, Oct 11, 2015

Salem police said a motorcyclist was flown to Boston after colliding with a sport utility vehicle on Sunday.

Police were called to the intersection of North Main Street and Glen Road for a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV around 4:48 p.m.

Police said a 50-year-old man was driving a motorcycle south on North Main Street when he collided with a 16-year-old boy who was making a left turn onto Glen Road from North Main Street in an SUV.

The driver of the SUV was not injured, but the motorcyclist suffered serious leg injuries and internal trauma, according to police. He was initially taken to Lawrence General Hospital, but was later flown to a Boston hospital.

Police said a 34-year-old woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the full extent of the motorcyclist's injuries are unknown and he is still being treated.

Salem Police Department's Traffic Accident Reconstruction (TAR) team was activated to investigate.

The road was shut down for a few hours but has since been reopened to regular traffic.

Police said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
