Sacramento, CA : A two-vehicle collision on US 395 near Coso Junction on Thursday, 13th February, 2020

One person is dead following a two-vehicle collision on US 395 near Coso Junction Thursday afternoon around 2 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol news release.

According to the release, 78-year-old Robert Frost of Green Valley, Ariz. was driving a 2016 Nissan Versa westbound on Gill Station Coso Road approaching US 395. At the same time, John Stiegler of Ridgecrest was driving a 2014 semi-truck northbound on the 395 at 55 mph.

Frost entered the intersection without yielding to the approaching semi-truck and was struck on the left side, causing the Versa to overturn into the center divider.

An 88-year-old female from Sahuarita, Ariz. was sitting in the front passenger seat at the time of the collision and suffered fatal injuries at the scene.

Stiegler was reported uninjured.
