Danvers, MA : Drunken driver hurt in crash on Wednesday, June 25, 2014
At 6:22 p.m. at the corner of Summer and Delaware streets in Danvers, a black sedan sped onto a front lawn and crashed into a parked car, pushing it 100 feet before rolling over, police said.
The driver, Brian Moran, 20, of 241 Maple St., Danvers, was taken to the hospital with injuries, police said. Moran, who was still in the hospital at press time last night, will be charged with drunken driving, police said. Police added that the clerk will bail him out directly from the hospital so that he has a chance to recover from his injuries.
Shattered glass and car parts coated the area of the road close to Lima Street as neighbors stopped by to make sure everyone was OK. Most expressed relief that no one was killed.
Danvers Police and Fire departments, along with two ambulances responded to the scene. Firefighters said the driver was able to get out of the car from under the dashboard after they removed the windshield.
