Tallahassee,FL : Two men hurt in car-truck collision on U.S. 41 in south Lee County on may, friday 5th 2017
Two men were critically injured early Friday in a two-vehicle crash in south Lee County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
A driver and passenger in a 2004 Honda Accord were traveling southwest about 1:45 a.m. on Sanibel Boulevard, approaching U.S. 41.
Daniel Del Castillo, 46, of Miami, told troopers he was driving a 2014 Freightliner truck southeast on U.S. 41 and had a steady green light as he approached Sanibel.
Entering the intersection, Del Castillo noticed the Honda enter U.S. 41, crossing all lanes, the FHP report states. Del Castillo braked, his truck skidded into the intersection and he was unable to avoid the car, which was directly in his path, FHP reported.
The front left part of the truck struck the Honda's right front side, rotating the Honda counter-clockwise and ejecting the car's driver and passenger through a side front window. Both men then struck the left side of the truck.
The Honda occupants, who were not wearing seat belts, were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. Troopers did not release their names and said they still were trying to determine who was driving the Honda.
