San Diego ,CA : Two stolen car pursuits end in crashes and shut down Interstate 15 on Thursday morning , May 7th 2015
Two pursuits involving stolen cars ended in dramatic crashes and shut down Interstate 15 Thursday morning.
The pursuit began at about 3:30 a.m. when California Highway Patrol officers ran the plates of two cars driving north on I-15 at El Cajon Boulevard and discovered they were stolen. When officers attempted to pull them over, they both took off in different directions.
One car stayed on northbound I-15. It exited at Aero Drive in Serra Mesa before crashing. The suspects fled the car on foot. At least one was arrested, CHP reported.
Meanwhile the second car made its way onto Interstate 805 and exited the freeway at Adams Avenue in University Heights. The car went off a cliff and down a 50-foot embankment into a canyon on Adams Avenue at Mission Cliff Road. CHP believes the driver jumped out of the car before it went over the embankment. The car was left laying on its side about halfway down the cliff.
