Two people were in critical condition and one sustained non-life-threatening injuries Saturday after a crash involving three cars and one pedestrian on Route 140 in Buckfield.The crash happened just before 11 a.m. in front of the Buckfield-Sumner Transfer Station. The names of the injured parties and involved vehicles have not yet been released.
The incident began with one vehicle rear-ending another, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle that was hit was pushed forward, hitting a pedestrian and another vehicle, both of which were at the transfer station. The vehicle that was rear-ended rolled over, according to police.
The operator of the vehicle that rear-ended the second was transported to Central Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The operator of the rear-ended vehicle and the pedestrian were transported to CMMC with life-threatening injuries.
Route 140 was shut down for several hours while the accident was reconstructed.
Buckfield and Turner rescue teams assisted at the scene, as well as Buckfield and Sumner fire departments.
The crash remains under investigation.
