Springfield,IL : Ohio man killed in Tri-State six-vehicle crash on April, sunday 30th 2017
A 62-year-old man from Ohio died Sunday after he was involved in a six-vehicle crash on the Tri-State Tollway near Buckley Road, according to Illinois State Police.
Just before 11:50 a.m. Sunday, Anita Silvert, 62, of Northbrook, lost control of her 2007 Dodge on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 in Lake County, causing her to crash into Roberto Maldonado, 59, of Kenosha, who was driving a 2005 Honda Pilot, according to a news release from state police.
That crash then caused a chain reaction that included a total of six vehicles, police said.
Among the cars that were involved in the crash was a 2015 Dodge Caravan driven by Allen Kenngott, 62, of Akron, Ohio, according to the release. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Kenngott's passenger, Catherine Kenngott, 60, of Akron, Ohio, was taken in critical condition to Advocate Condell Medical Center, police said.
Ashely Szudarski, 32, of Chicago, was driving a 2016 Mercedes, and she was taken to Lake Forest Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
There were no other injuries reported in the crash.
James Hart, 69, of Grande Ledge, Michigan, was another driver involved in the crash. He was driving a 2000 Kenworth with a 1997 Boydstun trailer, according to the release. Kavitha Amudttan, 41, of Waukegan, was driving a 2007 Honda and was also involved in the crash.
The incident remained under investigation late Sunday.
