Broomfield, CO : Fiery Broomfield crash kills Erie man on Monday, December 6th, 2016
An Erie man died in a Broomfield crash Monday night after his vehicle crashed and caught fire.
The man, who has not yet been identified, had his daughter in the car with him.
"He had a 14-year-old daughter, who was able to get away," Sgt. Steve Griebel said.
Broomfield police were called to Sheridan Boulevard between Lowell Boulevard and Northwest Parkway around 7 p.m. for a single-car rollover.
Griebel said the department's technical traffic accident team still is investigating Tuesday morning, but that witnesses reported the vehicle was heading east when it struck a curb, then a pole and caught on fire. It is unclear what caused the crash.
Victim advocates were called to the crash site to help the girl and a number of witnesses who experienced "a very intense scene."
Broomfield police and North Metro Fire Rescue District responded to the crash.
Traffic was shut down in the area and reopened about 11 p.m.
