HARTFORD, CT : Man charged in connection with deadly hit-and-run crash on February, Monday 5th 2018
Hartford Police say they’ve arrested a man believed to be involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash.
They said Monday 24-year-old Nathaniel Jefferson turned himself in on a warrant. He was charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter, evading responsibility, reckless driving and other violations.
Police say 23-year-old Catalina Melendez and 24-year-old Tina Fontanez were struck by a passing car as they got out of a cab in Hartford Jan. 16. They died from their injuries.
It’s unclear whether Jefferson is represented by a lawyer.
Police say he acknowledged hitting the women and leaving.
Officers found the unoccupied car near the scene. The owner later reported it stolen.
Police say they later determined the owner, 25-year-old Lorenzo Ivery, was a passenger in the car. Ivery also faces charges, including evading responsibility.
