Little Rock , AR: 44-year-old Mario Carreno Roman killed and two others injured in two-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon ,April 12th 2015

One person died Sunday and three people were hospitalized as the result of a two-car crash in Littlerock, authorities said Monday.

The crash at 1:55 p.m. Sunday killed 44-year-old Mario Carreno Roman of Lancaster, said Ed Winter, assistant chief of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Antelope Valley office, Roman was driving a 1991 Toyota southbound on 87th Street East, north of Avenue S8.

Roman lost control of his vehicle while trying to negotiate a curve and crossed into the northbound lane directly into the path of a northbound 2012 Nissan Altima, the CHP said.

The Altima hit the right side of Roman’s Toyota, and the impact killed him.

The driver of the Altima, 25-year-old Jose Dejesus Villarubio of Littlerock, and a 5-year-old boy in the middle-rear seat suffered minor injuries, the CHP said. But 25-year-old Maribella Acosta of Littlerock, who was in the back seat, was ejected and suffered major injuries, he said.

All three of the injured people were taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center for treatment.
