Vancouver, WA : Woman dies when vehicle rolls, crashes into Vancouver substation on Thursday afternoon, August 7, 2014
A 44-year-old woman was killed Thursday afternoon in a crash in which her vehicle ended up at a Clark Public Utilities substation in east Vancouver.
Trina Wase was pronounced dead at the scene. Traffic Sgt. Pat Johns of the Vancouver Police Department said speed and alcohol are possible factors in the crash.
The vehicle Wase was driving, described as a sport utility vehicle, left the field behind the Shell station at the corner of Northeast 28th Street and 112th Avenue. The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled, at which point she was thrown from the vehicle, Johns said.
The vehicle rolled back onto its wheels and continued across 112th Avenue, crashing through the fence around the power substation at the northwest corner of the intersection where Northeast 28th Street becomes Burton Road, Johns said.
A witness reported the crash around 4 p.m.
There was minor damage at the substation and no reported outages. Police blocked lanes on Northeast 112th Avenue and Burton Road while they investigated.
