Daytona Beach, FL : One person killed and one injured in head-on crash on Friday January 1 2016.

Daytona Beach police say a man died when he was hit by a car shortly after he was discharged from an area hospital Friday evening.
Officers were called to the 2300 block of North Williamson Boulvevard just after 7:30 p.m. for reports of a man struck by a vehicle.
Investigators later learned the man, identified as 32-year-old Joseph Hartley Jr., had recently been discharged from Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center after being treated for an unknown medical condition.
Witnesses told police Hartley was walking southbound in the middle of the northbound lanes on Williamson Boulevard when a passerby attempted to help him.
That's when police say Hartley ran across the road and was hit by a white Toyota SUV.
Hartley was taken back to Florida Hospital MMC to be treated for injuries from the crash but was pronounced dead just after 8 p.m.
