A 63-year-old McCall man has died in a motorcycle crash after hitting a guardrail on a highway in Oregon Monday evening.

Oregon State Police says troopers and emergency crews responded to a motorcycle crash report at 5:11 p.m. outside of Government Camp, Ore., in Wasco County. The rider was found lying on the roadway and not responding.

Lt. Pat Shortt said the man, Wilbur Fawcell of McCall, was traveling eastbound on Highway 26 when he hit the guardrail and was thrown 500 feet from his motorcycle.

The Oregon Department of Transportation and Welches Fire Department helped police during the investigation. OSP said excessive speed likely caused the crash.
