Memphis, TN : woman killed in after hit-and-run crash Hickory Hill Road on Saturday February 20 2016
A man is in jail after police said he is responsible for a hit-and-run that killed a woman Saturday.
The incident occurred at 6:05 p.m. at Hickory Hill Road and Meyers Road.
Police said Walter Williams drove away in a gold Cadillac after hitting the woman.
Police identified the woman as 24-year-old Clarissa Rhodes.
Investigators said Rhodes was attempting to cross the street on Hickory Hill when she was hit by Williams’ vehicle. She was thrown in the air by the impact and hit another car.
Officers said Williams never stopped.
He didn't care. He didn't stop,” Rhodes’ boyfriend Pierre Thomas said. “She could have been saved the first hit. He could have stopped the traffic, but he didn't stop. I just want to ask him why he didn't stop.”
Rhodes was pronounced dead at the scene.
We saw a body lying in the road and we turned around and came running back and saw it was a young lady,” one witness said.
She's still a baby. She's still young,” witness Deandre Palmer said.
Thomas said Rhodes leaves behind their three children, ages 5, 3 and 1.
