MARION COUNTY, KS : A woman and a child have died after crash in Marion County on Wednesday, 13th December 2023

A 43-year-old woman and her daughter have died in a crash in a in a highway construction zone in Marion County.

The accident happened at around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. 56 at 250th Street, which is north-northeast of Marion. The Kansas Highway Patrol said an eastbound tractor-trailer was stopped at a KDOT work zone waiting on the flagger. That's when a car failed to stop and crashed into the back of the semi.

The woman driving the car, Jessica R. Henson, of Wamego, and her daughter, identified by a friend as Baylie, died at the scene.
