Bismarck, ND : New Town woman killed in crash near Parshall on Saturday, 10th March 2018

Patchy ice and drifting snow contributed to a head-on collision Saturday afternoon that killed a 40-year-old woman near Parshall, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.

The woman, a New Town resident who was not immediately identified, was driving west on Highway 23 in a 2001 Toyota Echo.

The driver lost control of the vehicle about 3 miles east of Parshall about 5:30 p.m. Saturday and the vehicle spun into the eastbound lane, the Highway Patrol said.

Another vehicle, a 1996 Ford Ranger, was headed east and was unable to avoid striking the Toyota, authorities said.

The woman died at the scene. The other driver, identified as Gerald Burlison, 61, of Douglas, was transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot for his injuries, the Highway Patrol said. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
