Beaumont,TX : Child dies following Sabine County wreck on December, Monday 4th 2017
The five-year-old child passenger involved in a Monday afternoon wreck in Sabine County was pronounced deceased Wednesday as a result of the crash.
Charlie Higginbotham was flown to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston following the wreck where he was kept on life support until he died Wednesday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Both his mother, Kandy Windham Nichols, 45, and the driver, Scott Anthony Morris, 51, were pronounced dead at the scene Monday after their SUV hydroplaned and was hit head-on by oncoming traffic on U.S. 96 near Pineland, DPS said.
A GoFundMe account set up to cover funeral expenses of the family had raised $725 of a $10,000 goal as of 7 p.m. Thursday.
"We hope to help raise funds to alleviate some stress they are under in such a difficult time," Erin Shipley, a family friend who created the GoFundMe, told BeaumontEnterprise.com.
