Oakdale,NY :Two men suffer injuries, 1 serious, in collision Sunday night ,July 12th 2015

Suffolk County Police say a 61-year-old man has suffered serious injuries after his car struck another vehicle and two trees on Long Island.

Denis Mcauliffe was driving on Montauk Highway when his car struck the rear of a vehicle that had turned onto the highway. It happened around 8:30 p.m. Sunday in Oakdale, a hamlet in the Town of Islip (EYE'-slihp).

Police say Mcauliffe was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.

The other driver, 20-year-old Steven Hawrylynko, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center.

Both men are from Oakdale.

The accident remains under investigation.
