A woman was killed in a crash on I-664 North near the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel Thursday.

She drove her Toyota into the back of a tractor-trailer that was stopped in front of the inspection station due to a wide load crossing at the Monitor-Merrimack Bridge-Tunnel, said Va. State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

The woman died at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Drivers headed to the Peninsula are being detoured onto College Drive, down to Route 17 and across the James River Bridge.

The northbound lanes reopened around 2 p.m.
