Lake Mary, FL : Infant thrown from SUV during I-4 crash on near Lake Mary Boulevard Friday on September 26, 2014

An infant and a 40-year-old woman were hurt in a crash that blocked eastbound lanes on Interstate 4, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday near Lake Mary Boulevard. Troopers said Alicia Timothy, of Orlando, was traveling westbound on I-4 when the left, rear tire tread separated, causing her to lose control of her 1999 Ford SUV. As the SUV traveled into the media, the vehicle overturned over center guardrail and came to a stop in the eastbound median, authorities said. FHP said the infant was ejected from the SUV and landed in the grass in the median. There was a car seat secured in the SUV, but troopers said they do not believe the boy was properly secured to the car seat. The age and name of the infant was not confirmed by troopers. Troopers said the boy was taken in serious condition to Arnold Palmer. Timothy suffered minor injuries in the crash. Two left eastbound lanes were blocked, causing traffic to back up until Ee Williamson Road, Seminole County Fire Rescue officials said. The lanes reopened late Friday night.
