Lorain, OH : Minivan crashes into Elyria house on Thursday, November, 2nd 2017

An 88-year-old man was transported to the hospital after striking a house in the 500 block of West River Road in Elyria.

According to Lt. William Pelko of the Elyria Police Department, at about 12:15 p.m. on Nov. 2 the man who was behind the wheel of a minivan lost consciousness while driving before crossing the median and striking the house. The home sustained exterior damage in addition to front-end damage to the van.

The man was transported by ambulance to UH-Elyria before being taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, according to ambulance sources.

Pelko said the driver will be cited for reasonable control.
