A cyclist was hit and killed by a driver in Lincoln County on Wednesday night, state troopers said.
The crash happened around 9 p.m. on North Carolina 182 near Sorrells Baxter Road, east of Lawndale. Timothy Mark Eaker, 59, was riding a bicycle in the eastbound lanes of the road when he was struck by a 2016 Jeep Cherokee, troopers said. Eaker was not wearing any reflective clothing and had no lights on his bike, according to Highway Patrol. He died at the scene.
