VICKSBURG, MS : Vicksburg man who was hit and killed by car identified on Monday, March 6th 2017

Vicksburg Police Lieutenant Bill Jeffers said that a man was hit and killed while crossing Interstate 20 Monday night in Vicksburg near Indiana Avenue.

He has been identified as 59-year-old Donald Welch of Berryman Road.

Chief Armstrong said the man ventured into the path of the oncoming car and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Welch was walking north toward the businesses along south Frontage when he was hit by a car.

No citations were issued to the driver of the car that hit Jeffers.
