Cockeysville, MD : Seven Injured When Car Crashes Into Andy Nelson’s Barbecue Restaurant Friday afternoon on July 25, 2014
A car crashed into the Andy Nelson's Barbecue restaurant Friday afternoon, sending seven people to local hospitals, Baltimore County police said.
All of those who received treatment — six men and a woman — suffered minor injuries, police said. Two were eating outside the restaurant when the crash occurred and the others were in vehicles.
About 12:30 p.m., Baltimore County police and fire crews responded to a three-vehicle accident in the 1100 block of York Road, police said. One of the cars went into an outdoor seating area, destroying picnic tables and taking out the steps to the front entrance of the building. There was no other structural damage, police said.
Dion Faucette, a worker at the restaurant who witnessed the crash, said he saw a burgundy Subaru Forester driving north on York Road strike a white, Baltimore City-owned truck traveling in the southbound lane that was turning left into the restaurant. Faucette said the Forester, driven by a woman, then crashed into Andy Nelson's.
"I was just walking back to the restaurant when it happened," he said. "I was scared for the guys sitting at the table. … I'm glad no one got hurt too badly."
The restaurant closed for several hours after the crash but reopened late in the afternoon.
