Two Throckmorton teens were killed in a head-on collision Friday just south of Throckmorton.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported the wreck occurred about 5:40 p.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 183, just over a mile south of Throckmorton.

Killed were Brianna Navarro, 18, and Chase Navarro, 14.

Brianna Navarro was driving a 2001 Ford Escape north on U.S. 183, when the car crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic, the DPS reported. The vehicle collided with a 2013 Kenworth tractor-trailer rig, driven by Chandler Ray Green, 61, of Breckenridge.

The 18-wheeler tried to brake but could not avoid the Ford, the DPS reported.

Brianna Navarro was taken to United Regional Medical Center in Wichita Falls, where she was pronounced dead. Chase Navarro was pronounced dead at Throckmorton Memorial Hospital. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

A two-year-old in the vehicle, Casey Grace Jones, was treated and released from the Throckmorton hospital.

Green was uninjured.

Funeral services for the Navarros will be 10 a.m. at the Throckmorton High School auditorium.
