An unidentified adult male was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday after he was ejected from his vehicle during a two-car crash, police said.
The man was driving on Route 48 toward Pilesgrove Township when he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and struck another vehicle traveling on South Golfwood Avenue.
Carneys Point Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene around 12:30 p.m. and worked until almost 2 p.m. to clear the site of the crash just beyond the Roman Pantry.
A female passenger in the vehicle with the man was also seriously injured, authorities said, and flown to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland, Pennsylvania.
The man, who was ejected out of the back window of a white GMC four-door, was taken to Cooper University Medical Center in Camden by helicopter.
Debris from the heavily damaged vehicles was scattered on the lawn at the intersection.
The driver of the white Dodge van was also injured in the accident, police reported, and stated that she would go to Christiana Medical Center by private transportation and declined the ambulance.
