CLINTON, IL : Clinton man dies in workplace accident on April, Thursday 6th 2017

A 57-year-old Clinton man was killed in an accident Thursday morning at the McElroy Metal Manufacturing plant in Clinton.

"We believe that a pallet of roofing sheet metal fell on him," said DeWitt County Coroner Randy Rice, whose office is continuing to investigate the death along with the Clinton Police Department and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The man's name has not been released, and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, Rice said.

The Clinton Fire Department, DeWitt County Emergency Medical Services and Clinton police responded to a report at 9:51 a.m. that "a subject had been injured in an accident within the plant," said interim Fire Chief Jason Karr.

The plant on the southeastern edge of Clinton at 10490 Illinois 10 manufactures metal roofs, siding and panels.
