Memphis, TN : Pedestrian hit, killed on the way to work on Thursday, January 28, 2016
A car crashed into and killed a pedestrian at the intersection of Getwell Road and East Holmes Road.
"It's a terrible thing."
Officers said the crash happened around 6:00 a.m. The driver of the Honda Civic involved in the crashed remained on scene.
Investigators said the victim, a 53-year-old man, got off the bus and as he crossing the street, he was hit by the car.
According to police, the victim was on his way to work.
Employees at Technicolor said the man was employed there. It was only his second day at work.
"That's terrible news on his second day at work. That's tragic," motorist Barney Gorman said.
Drivers that travel along Holmes Road said it can be a difficult place to drive, especially before sunrise. They said the tragedy will make them more aware when they're out on the road.
"It's a lot of traffic out here. There's a lot of places down here. There's a lot of coming a going," motorist David Foster said.
Police said the driver had a suspended Tennessee driver’s license. The driver was issued a misdemeanor citation for driving with a suspended license.
