St. Petersburg, FL : Seminole man killed in a fatal traffic crash on I-275 on Wednesday, February 4, 2015

A Seminole man died at the scene of a crash on I-275 southbound at mile marker 27 about 3:12 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Michelle Marshall, 48, of Clearwater and Lorenzo Nieves, 58, of Seminole was traveling southbound on I-275 at milepost 27, south of Gandy Boulevard.

Marshall was driving a 2004 Ford SUV in the center lane. Nieves was operating a 2004 Harley Davidson in the inside lane. A disabled 2001 Chrysler sedan was parked on the inside paved shoulder. Alexis Perez, 26, of Tampa was inside.

Troopers said when Marshall failed to observe the car on the shoulder and tried to change lanes, merging into the path of Nieves' motorcycle. Nieves tried to avoid a crash and traveled onto the paved inside shoulder colliding with the rear of the Chrysler.

After Nieves hit the sedan, he vaulted from the motorcycle and collided with the left side of the motorcycle. He died at the scene. Troopers said he was wearing a helmet.

No other injuries were reported. Charges are pending.
