Canadian, OK : Woman critically injured in Pittsburg County crash on Tuesday morning, September 27, 2016
A female passenger in a vehicle was critically injured in a crash Tuesday morning near Canadian.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Montana Adams, 26, of McAlester, was driving eastbound on State Highway 113, three miles west of Canadian, at 5 a.m. when Adams swerved to avoid hitting a deer. The Cadillac Adams was driving left the road, struck an embankment and rolled.
A passenger in the vehicle, Kathleen Adams, 22, from McAlester, was critically injured and flown to St. Francis hospital in Tulsa by helicopter, the Highway Patrol said. Montana Adams, meanwhile, was listed in stable condition at McAlester Regional Health Center in stable condition with head, trunk, arm and leg injuries.
A 2-year-old child in the vehicle was in a car seat and was not injured. The two injured were wearing seat belts.
The Highway Patrol said the vehicle rolled two times. The victims were pinned in the vehicle for more than an hour. They were extricated from the vehicle by the Canadian Shores Fire Department and Sam’s Point Fire Department using the Hurst Rescue Tool.
