Elverson, PA : Pickup truck crashes into Elverson church on Saturday night, April 2, 2016
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a crash that left one church heavily damaged.
It happened at the Warwick Bible Church, located at 40 South Chestnut St. in Elverson Saturday night at about 9:45 p.m.
According to police, a 19-year-old Pottstown woman driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck left the roadway, struck both roadside sidewalks and struck through 24 feet of metal fencing before crashing into the church. Injuries were said to be minor and police said they believe driving under the influence was a factor.
The building sustained heavy damage and is pending a structural evaluation. Route 82 was shut down between routes 401 and 23 while crews cleared the scene. The road has since been reopened. Along with Pennsylvania State Police, Twin Valley Fire Department and Elverson-Honey Brook EMS units also assisted at the scene.
