Midland, MI : Man suffers serious injuries in crash at Isabella and Vance on Thursday, March 9, 2017

An 82-year-old Midland man is hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash that left traffic at Isabella Street and Vance Road restricted on Thursday.
Midland Police report the crash occurred at 8:20 a.m. when Robert Lawrence Johnson attempted to turn left from Vance onto Isabella, and drove a 2005 Dodge Durango into the path of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado.
Johnson was not wearing a seat belt, and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland for treatment.
The driver of the Silverado, John Carl Bornheimer, 50, Midland, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
A witness said he saw the Durango slow briefly after beginning to turn, then pull directly into the path of the eastbound Silverado.
Traffic at Isabella and Vance was restricted from the time of the crash until just before noon. Semi trucks headed into Midland also were diverted at M-20 and Meridian Road during this time.
