Worcester, MA : New Jersey motorcyclist injured in collision with car on Park Avenue Monday afternoon, June 20, 2016

A 20-year-old man was seriously hurt when his motorcycle collided with a car on Park Avenue Monday afternoon.

Police said the victim, a New Jersey resident, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he was listed in serious condition. He suffered a chest injury, abrasions, and contusions, according to police.

The police crash reconstruction unit investigated. According to a preliminary investigation, a 2008 Kia Optima driven by a 21-year-old city resident was heading north on Park Avenue when it turned left to enter the parking lot of the Thomas J. Woods Insurance Agency at 20 Park Ave. The motorcycle rider, on a 2001 Suzuki SV650, was headed south and collided with the passenger side of the Kia. The rider was ejected onto the road, police said. The driver of the Kia was not injured.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. No citations have been issued.
