Marin, CA : 3 killed in car cash in Northern California's Marin County on Tuesday, October 18, 2016

Authorities in Northern California say three young men were killed when their car ran off the road, stuck a power pole and two trees and fell into a ditch in Marin County.

California Highway Patrol Officer Andrew Barclay says the crash occurred just after midnight Tuesday near Lagunitas and was reported by an off-duty National Park Service ranger who came upon the wreckage.

The Marin Independent Journal reports (http://bayareane.ws/2e43OPx) those who died have been identified as Chance Maurer, of Novato, and brothers Chancellor and Lancelot Argall, of San Anselmo. All were 18.

Barclay says the Toyota Corolla is believed to have left the roadway at a high rate of speed. A large portion of the vehicle's roof came off in the crash.

Investigators have not determined if alcohol or drugs were involved.
