A 34-year-old Greenwood man died Feb. 3 following a single-car crash near Bridgeville.
The crash happened at 7:40 p.m. when a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Route 404 just west of Polk Road, and for unknown reasons, the driver exited the south edge of the roadway and struck a mailbox, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police. After impact, she said, the truck continued to travel along a ditch bank where it struck a culvert pipe causing the truck to overturn.
The driver was not properly restrained and pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.
Route 404 in the area of Polk Road was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
