A 31-year-old Hemet woman died when she was ejected from an SUV in a head-on crash with a tractor trailer on Gilman Springs Road east of Bridge Street near San Jacinto, authorities said on Thursday.
Tanya Gil was the passenger in the 1998 Dodge Durango that had been reported stolen in Victorville, the California Highway Patrol said Thursday. Gil was identified by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
The vehicle burned after both Gil and driver Issa Mojaddidi, 30, of Moreno Valley, were thrown to the roadway late Wednesday morning by the impact with the semi. Mojaddidi was hospitalized with serious injuries, the CHP said.
The driver of the Volvo truck tractor, a 57-year-old Los Angeles man, was not injured.
The Durango was headed westbound on Gilman Springs Road with the semi heading in the opposite direction, the CHP said. Mojaddidi allowed his SUV to drift onto the shoulder, over-corrected and lost control, with the Dodge spinning into the the eastbound lane and into the truck’s path, the CHP said.
