Tustin , CA : Two pepole were killed and another person seriously injured in tustin on Sunday early morning , December 14th 2014
Two men were killed and another seriously injured in Tustin early Saturday morning, when they led police on a high-speed car chase that ended in a fiery crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers tried to stop a silver Kia Soul on the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway about 2 a.m. for traveling faster than 90 mph, according to a CHP statement released Sunday.
The driver of the car refused to pull over and exited the freeway onto 17th Street in Tustin as the officers gave chase, the statement said. As the men approached a large intersection at Newport Avenue, the driver lost control and the car slammed into a brick column, the statement said.
The car rolled several times, came to rest upside down and quickly became engulfed in flames, according to the CHP statement and Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi. The officers were able to pull one man out, but "the intense heat" from the fire made it impossible to try to reach the driver and the other passenger.
Trying to rescue the men would have been futile since they were "killed instantly," said Concialdi.
