At least five people were injured Tuesday evening in an accident involving a tractor trailer and multiple other vehicles on I-85 in Rowan County.
The crash happened just before 10:30 on southbound I-85 near Peach Orchard Road, which is Exit 72. Officials have not released many details, but Rowan County Communications confirmed the wreck was being responded to as a "major incident."
Multiple lanes were closed while crews worked the scene, causing heavy traffic back-ups.
Investigators have not said exactly how many vehicles were involved or released any details about those injured.
The circumstances leading up to the crash are unclear.
